Love Island USA Season 8 Week 3 Recap: Sol and Gabriel Dumped

Love Island USA Season 8 Week 3 Recap: Sol and Gabriel Dumped

Week 3 of Love Island USA picked up immediately after America's vote and a brand-new recoupling. While some Islanders settled into their new pairings, others quickly realized their hearts were still elsewhere. Secret kisses, hurt feelings, difficult conversations, and one of the season's most talked-about dumpings left the villa divided heading into Casa Amor.

Kenzie, Caleb & Corbin

Kenzie entered the week coupled up with Caleb, but it quickly became clear that her connection with Corbin hadn't gone away.

Following the recoupling, Kenzie told Caleb that she felt they were compatible, but admitted their age difference was holding her back from fully investing in the relationship. She was also honest about still wanting to explore things with Corbin. Initially, Kenzie appeared to handle the situation openly, keeping both Caleb and Corbin informed about where her head was at. However, as the week progressed, it became obvious that her attraction to Corbin was much stronger.

The two could frequently be seen sneaking away for private conversations, with Kenzie becoming increasingly eager to pursue something more. Corbin initially tried to pump the brakes, citing respect for his new couple with Melanie. That hesitation frustrated Kenzie, especially after Corbin had previously expressed interest in kissing Melanie while they were together. Eventually, the tension became too much. Kenzie and Corbin shared a kiss, and while Corbin seemed unconcerned about who might find out, Kenzie wanted to keep it quiet. She appeared worried about hurting Caleb and dealing with the fallout that would come from openly choosing Corbin.

Still, keeping the situation under wraps only made things worse.

During the You've Got Mail recoupling challenge, Islanders were tasked with writing letters to the person they wanted to couple up with. Kenzie received letters from both Caleb and Corbin, but she only wrote one letter and it was addressed to Corbin.

The decision left Caleb standing alone.

Caleb admitted he felt embarrassed and led on, believing Kenzie had strung him along while she figured out her feelings. Meanwhile, Kenzie and Corbin were thrilled to finally reunite. While Kenzie certainly had every right to follow her heart, some viewers felt the situation could have been handled better had she simply told Caleb sooner that Corbin was the person she truly wanted.

Sincere, Melanie & Sol

After America's vote paired Sincere and Sol together, the two immediately began building a connection. During their first conversation, Sol seemed excited about the pairing, while Sincere expressed that he believed they could potentially develop something meaningful.

As the days passed, that connection appeared to grow stronger.

The pair spent a significant amount of time together, sharing conversations, kisses, and cozy moments in bed. What stood out to many viewers was how little attention Sincere seemed to give Melanie during those first few days.

Meanwhile, Melanie was struggling.

Rather than sleep inside the villa, Melanie chose to sleep outdoors. She initially claimed it was out of respect for Kenzie, but later admitted she simply couldn't bear watching Sincere and Sol together every night. Not everyone was sympathetic. KC openly suggested that Melanie's decision to sleep outside was more about wanting Sincere's attention. Based on what viewers saw, some agreed with his assessment.

Several Islanders encouraged Melanie to explore her connection with Corbin. Although Corbin still had unfinished business with Kenzie, many felt Melanie owed it to herself to move forward rather than wait around for Sincere. Corbin himself seemed frustrated by the situation. Since Melanie was sleeping outside, he was left sleeping alone despite technically being coupled up with her.

Things took an interesting turn around midweek.

Once Melanie finally began opening herself up to Corbin, Sincere suddenly expressed that he missed her. During a private conversation, Melanie told Sincere she felt abandoned and questioned whether he had ever truly cared about her. Sincere insisted that he did care and claimed ending their connection had been difficult for him.

Some viewers weren't buying it.

After all, Sincere had spent most of the week fully focused on Sol and hadn't appeared particularly concerned about Melanie's feelings until she began moving on.

Despite the skepticism, Melanie appreciated the conversation and seemed genuinely happy to hear Sincere's apology. That night, Melanie finally shared a bed with Corbin. Ironically, by the next morning, both of them seemed more interested in other people.

Melanie appeared excited about reconnecting with Sincere, while Corbin remained focused on Kenzie.

The You've Got Mail challenge ultimately forced everyone to make a choice.

Corbin and Kenzie exchanged letters and reunited as expected. Meanwhile, Melanie shocked nobody by writing her letter to Sincere. Sincere chose Melanie as well, leaving Sol single.

After recoupling, Melanie and Sincere expressed excitement about finding their way back to one another.

Sol, however, had a very different reaction.

The following day, she confronted Sincere and accused him of being dishonest, manipulative, and misleading her about his intentions. Sincere admitted that he had led her on and apologized, but Sol wasn't interested in letting him off the hook that easily. She made it clear that honesty would have gone a long way.

Sincere eventually argued that Sol wasn't completely innocent either, although he never fully explained what he meant. Some viewers speculated that he felt Sol knowingly pursued him despite his existing connection with Melanie. However, as a bombshell, Sol was doing exactly what bombshells are brought in to do... shake things up and find a connection.

Afterward, Sincere relayed the conversation back to Melanie, who seemed ready to move on and focus on rebuilding their relationship.

Kayda & Zach

Kayda and Zach appeared to be one of the villa's "strongest" couples heading into the week.

Their relationship reached a new level when they were selected for the Hideaway and shared an intimate night together. However, things became complicated shortly afterward.

While getting ready for bed, Zach jokingly asked Kayda if she would be upset if he decided to explore future bombshells. Kayda quickly made it clear that she wouldn't be thrilled about that possibility. Although Zach claimed he was joking, he continued discussing the prospect of staying open with several of the boys throughout the week, particularly Bryce.

Then Caleb entered the picture.

Following the You've Got Mail recoupling, Caleb found himself single and began exploring his options. One of the women who caught his attention was Kayda. During their conversation, Kayda admitted Caleb wasn't her usual type, but she didn't completely shut down the possibility of getting to know him.

Once Zach learned about the conversation, his perspective seemed to change.

The same person who had spent days discussing exploration suddenly appeared uncomfortable with the idea of Kayda doing exactly that. When Kayda told Zach she planned to remain open to conversations with Caleb, Zach visibly shut down. Their discussion ended poorly, prompting Kayda to seek another conversation later that evening.

Unfortunately, things only became more tense.

When Kayda approached Zach in the outdoor kitchen, he was already speaking with other Islanders and told her he was busy. The response upset Kayda, who felt they still had unresolved issues to discuss.

Although the pair eventually sat down together, neither seemed able to get on the same page.

The following morning only added fuel to the fire. While many of the girls received breakfast from their partners, Zach told Kayda he hadn't cooked anything but could make her something quickly if she wanted. He then pointed out that she was capable of making breakfast herself.

Needless to say, that comment didn't sit well with many viewers considering the villa's dynamics.

Aniya & KC

Aniya and KC spent much of the week dealing with the same recurring issue.

The trouble started during the World Cup Soccer Challenge when Islanders were asked to slime the person acting like they had already won the competition.

Zach and Kayda chose KC. Their reasoning was simple. They believed KC had become too comfortable in his couple and wasn't fully exploring the Love Island experience.

Unfortunately, that criticism struck a nerve with Aniya.

She didn't want to be viewed as someone's backup plan or safe choice. The challenge reopened concerns she'd already been having about whether KC was genuinely interested in her. Afterward, Aniya asked KC if he felt restricted from exploring other connections. KC explained that he didn't feel restricted but admitted he sometimes felt nervous about pursuing other options. Aniya encouraged him to enjoy the experience and explore.

Later that evening, she spoke with Zach and Kayda to better understand why they had chosen to slime KC. During that conversation, KC pulled Sol for a chat. They seemed to be having a good conversation until Aniya interrupted to speak with him. KC smiled, as he often does, but Aniya didn't appreciate it and felt he wasn't taking her concerns seriously.

KC continued smiling throughout the discussion, which frustrated Aniya. She explained that she didn't want to feel like the safe option, and once again, KC reassured her.

Unfortunately, neither seemed fully satisfied by the conversation.

The next day, KC vented to Corbin about feeling stuck in a cycle of repeated arguments despite not actually doing anything wrong. He also admitted that his relationship with Aniya lacked some of the romance he saw in other couples.

Aniya later stated she wasn't trying to spread her legs on national television and that at night she's often tired. Whether KC was referring to sex or simply wanting more romance remains unclear. It seems that their chemistry is there, their relationship just lacks passion.

The You've Got Mail challenge helped temporarily repair some of the damage.

The two exchanged heartfelt letters explaining who they are and why they behave the way they do. The exercise seemed to help both Islanders better understand one another, and they ended up back on good terms.

However, following the elimination deliberations, Bryce informed Trinity that KC had advocated for keeping Sol in the villa. Trinity then shared that information with Aniya. When confronted, KC admitted that if Sol had remained in the villa, he likely would have explored that connection. His reasoning was straightforward: this is Love Island, and he felt it was impossible to know whether a connection was truly right without exploring other options.

While KC insisted his interest in Sol didn't mean he cared less about Aniya, the honesty still hurt. Aniya walked away from the conversation upset and declined his attempt at a hug.

Trinity & Bryce

Compared to some of the other couples in the villa, Trinity and Bryce had a relatively quiet week. The pair continued building their connection and seemed to be getting along well with no major issues between them. While some viewers still question whether they're truly compatible long-term, they appear comfortable with one another and are moving in a positive direction. With Casa Amor approaching, their relationship may finally face the test that reveals whether they're as strong as they seem.

Jen & Gabriel

Compared to some of the week's messier storylines, Jen and Gabriel seemed relatively straightforward.

Gabriel and Jen wasted little time getting comfortable with one another and spent much of the week enjoying each other's company.

Still, there were a few bumps along the way.

Jen admitted that Gabriel wasn't the type of guy she would normally pursue outside the villa. While she intended the comment as an observation rather than an insult, Gabriel didn't take it particularly well. He admitted hearing that made him feel uncertain about where he stood. Jen quickly clarified that just because Gabriel wasn't her usual type didn't mean she couldn't see something real developing between them.

Unfortunately, viewers never got the chance to see where their connection might have gone.

The Controversial Dumping of Sol and Gabriel

The biggest moment of the week came when America voted for their favorite couples.

The bottom three couples were:

  • Kenzie & Corbin
  • Jen & Gabriel
  • Sol & Caleb

Rather than allowing the public vote to decide the outcome entirely, the Islanders were tasked with choosing one boy and one girl to send home.

After a lengthy deliberation, the girls chose to eliminate Gabriel. Their reasoning was that Gabriel appeared more focused on physical attraction than developing genuine emotional connections. Some believed his approach to relationships was driven by lust rather than compatibility.

The boys, meanwhile, chose to eliminate Sol. According to the boys, Sol lacked a meaningful romantic connection in the villa.

The decisions immediately sparked backlash among viewers.

Many fans argued that Sol's lack of connections wasn't entirely her fault. She spent most of her experience focused on Sincere, and many of the other Islanders never seriously attempted to get to know her afterward. Some viewers also felt Sincere played a major role in Sol's downfall and found it particularly awkward that he was ultimately chosen to deliver the speech informing her she had been eliminated.

While viewers criticized the boys' choice, the Islanders themselves became more focused on Gabriel's departure.

Several of the guys felt Caleb would have been the more logical choice to leave, given that he currently lacked a romantic connection.

Bryce, Zach, and Sincere were among the most vocal critics of the girls' decision. They argued that labeling Gabriel as "too lustful" was unfair, considering everyone on the show is exploring physical attraction to some degree. They also pointed out that Gabriel had been actively pursuing the connections available to him.

The girls stood firm. During the argument, Trinity raised what many viewers considered a valid question: Why was Sincere chosen to deliver the elimination speech to Sol?

The guys largely sidestepped the question, and after several heated exchanges, the villa eventually moved on. The viewers, however, are still debating it.

If Week 3 proved anything, it's that no couple is truly secure. With Casa Amor now on the horizon, existing connections are about to face their biggest test yet. Some relationships may survive, but based on the cracks already forming in the villa, others could be headed for disaster. We'll be back next week to break down all the Casa Amor drama.
