All Hail The Yoncé | 10 Reasons Beyoncé Is The STANDARD

All Hail The Yoncé | 10 Reasons Beyoncé Is The STANDARD

noun
1. A level of quality or attainment.

The drive Beyoncé had early on isn’t something you see from artist now. Her work ethic is unmatched. She’s been consistent since childhood, pushing past rejection and setbacks to reach the level she’s at now. Every success she has is backed by years of discipline, practice, and a mentality that doesn’t allow excuses. That’s why she isn’t just an artist, she’s the blueprint.

1.) The Iconic Destiny's Child

Beyoncé started young, performing at schools, rehearsing nonstop, and leading her first group, Girl’s Tyme. After losing Star Search in 1993 and even being dropped by a label, she kept pushing until the group signed with Columbia Records in 1997 and rebranded as Destiny’s Child. From there, they blew up; created four successful albums, winning multiple Grammys, and dropping classic hits. Their influence stretched beyond music: they had a line of dolls, earned a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and collected countless awards. The group solidified their place, as one of the most successful and iconic girl groups in history.

2.) Greatest Debut of All Time

When Beyoncé went solo, she carried that same relentless drive. Dangerously in Love (2003) debuted at number one, sold over 300,000 copies in its first week, and instantly made her a household name. Beyoncé was literally everywhere and her momentum never slowed. She secured brand partnerships and starred in two movies. She went on her own solo tour, one partnered tour, and had a host of concert appearances. Beyoncé was appearing and performing at morning shows, music networks, and almost every award show you could think of. As fans, we never had to wonder if she’d show up, it was just about what she would do next to raise the bar.

Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston gave her flowers. She performed with Stevie Wonder and Prince. Also she secured features from Stevie Wonder and Luther Vandross. Who else can say they had a solo debut like that?

3.) Vocals

Beyoncé is one of the best vocalists alive. From her signature runs in Destiny’s Child to opera performances to full Spanish-language albums, she never stops pushing her abilities. Your favorite artist has probably studied her at some point, because her technique is that influential. Her voice is so distinct and controlled that even elite singers struggle to duplicate it. Even now, she knows how to adjust her live range without watering down the music. While others fight to keep up, Beyoncé still dominates.

4.) Acting

Since 1998, Beyoncé has appeared in TV shows, but in 2001 she stepped into her first major film with Carmen: A Hip Hopera. From there, she built an acting résumé that includes nine more films: Austin Powers in Goldmember, The Fighting Temptations, The Pink Panther, Dreamgirls, Cadillac Records, Obsessed, Epic, The Lion King, and Mufasa: The Lion King. On top of that, she’s released multiple DVDs that pull fans inside her album and tour processes.

5.) All Around Entertainer

From a young age, Beyoncé worked to perfect not just her vocals but her ability to be a complete entertainer. She doesn’t just sing, she dances. Since the start, Beyoncé has given us signature moves on every body of work. She also makes everything look good, which is why fans came up with the hashtag #BeyonceAlwaysOnBeat. She doesn’t stand in front of dancers, she is the dancer! Whatever her crew does, she does too, or she finds a way to make it her own. That’s pure work ethic and determination.

6.) Awards and Achievements

Beyoncé has won over 700 awards, over the span of her entire career. Beyoncé has received a total of 35 wins and 99 nominations from the Grammy Awards. She is also the most-awarded artist of the BET Awards, NAACP Image Awards and the Soul Train Awards. She has won 30 MTV Video Music Awards and 1 Emmy, making her the joint-most decorated artist in the award show history. With 28 awards, Beyoncé is the third-most awarded artist at the Billboard Music Awards. And she's not even done yet.

7.) Tours and Connection with Fans

Coming out of the gate, Beyoncé was packing out arenas. She released Live at Wembley, a video album (our fan favorite) in support of her debut solo studio album Dangerously in Love. Over the course of her solo career, Beyoncé has done a total of 10 tours and has done multiple partnered concert appearances. What’s even greater is how she always caters to her fans. For almost every album, Beyoncé has released a DVD or TV special, showing the entire concert or the preparation behind it. That transparency is part of why the Hive loves her. She didn’t just give us the polished product, she let us see the grind it took to get there. We’ve been able to follow the journey through her lens.

8.) Businesswoman

Beyoncé has had many brand deals and launches throughout her career. From the True Star fragrance collab with Tommy Hilfiger to House of Deréon with her mom Tina Knowles, she was building her business foundation early. She created BeyGOOD, her philanthropic foundation that funds scholarships and global relief efforts. She built Parkwood Entertainment, her own company that produces her music, films, and tours, making sure the power stays in her hands. She partnered with Adidas on Ivy Park. Then came Cécred, her luxury haircare line inspired by her childhood in her mother’s salon. Now we even have SirDavis, who would’ve ever thought Beyoncé would step into the liquor game? It just proves there’s no limit, no lane she won’t dominate. Beyoncé isn’t boxed in. She’s showing us she can expand anywhere she wants.

9.) Motherhood

She’s Muva to us, but she’s Mom to Blue, Sir, and Rumi. What stands out is the way she parents. Beyoncé is not pushing her children into the spotlight or letting the world dictate their pace. She is raising them with intention, nurturing their passions and letting them move on their own terms. Blue Ivy shined on the Renaissance tour, holding her own on stage with confidence beyond her years. On the Cowboy Carter tour, both Blue and Rumi had their moments and now her children have their own fanbases.

It is inspiring to see the cycle come full circle. Her daughters may choose to follow in her footsteps, and if they do, they could not ask for a better teacher than Beyoncé. She is showing them, just like she has shown us, that greatness comes from discipline, self-belief, and work ethic.

10.) Influence and Legacy

Beyoncé is an inspiration because she's been authentically herself, throughout her entire career. She never settled or let anyone else's negative opinions dictate her success. She controls her narrative, rarely gives interviews, and moves on her own terms when it comes to social media. She uses her music to advocate, to speak on culture, and not just set trends... she is THE TREND. She overcame adversity, built one of the largest and most loyal fanbases in the world, and still finds ways to surprise us.

What makes her even more powerful is how much she has given to the industry itself. So many artists today have the perfect blueprint to follow because Beyoncé laid it all on the table. Beyond the spotlight, Beyoncé helps people quietly, lending support without always needing the credit. That silent generosity is another reason the love for her runs so deep.

She is still building her legacy every day, but now she also has mini torches in her children, ready to light their own flames. Beyoncé shows us that true greatness is not just about what you achieve for yourself but also about the paths you clear for others to walk.

Here at Hella Complicated, we don’t need a reason or a special holiday to celebrate Beyoncé. We celebrate her every time she drops new music, every time she hits the stage, and every time she reminds us why she’s the Queen. Nobody is touching her. Period.
